Coorg – A beautiful hill station near Bangalore – Day 2

Ok friends, so this post is about the second day of our trip to Bangalore. Our second day was a bit more busy as we decided to cover the most important tourist destination and a pilgrimage center in Coorg – Talakaveri. But we did cover few more places to mention.

For Day 1 : Coorg – A beautiful hill station near Bangalore – Day 1

For Day 3: Coorg – A Beautiful Hill Station Near Bangalore – Day 3

We woke up at around 8 and had a very nice madikeri special breakfast. So tasty it was. By the time everyone was ready it was already 10 AM. And weather was so nice. It was sunny as well as cloudy. We knew that we are going to have a nice drive through the hills.

Stop1 – Bhagamandala: This a very spiritual place and an important pilgrimage center. Situated just 8kms before Talakveri (from where kaveri starts) and 36 kms from Madikeri, it took us around 1hr and 30 mins to reach here. We reached here by 11.45 AM. Situated at the banks of river kaveri, this place is also called as triveni sangam. People come here to take a dip in this water body. It is called as triveni sangam because at this place, the Kaveri is joined by two tributaries, the Kannike and the mythical Sujyothi river.

A very important temple of Lord Shiva in the name of Shri Bhagandeshwara is present here and is very important pilgrimage center of this location.

After visiting the temple we took a dip into the holy triveni sangam

We left Shri Bhagamandalam by 12.45 and we were on our way to Talakaveri!

Stop2 – Talakaveri: Well this is the most important places to visit in Madikeri. This is the place where one of the most important and mythologically important rivers of ours originates. This place is around 8Kms from Bhagamandalam and takes not more than 20 to 30 mins to reach from there. We reached here by 1.15 PM

A huge arch welcomes you. There are few steps which takes you to the temple premises and the kund from where the river originates. Amazing view from the top and amazing experience here, but this was not it, we say steps going up and people going that way. Hence after visiting temple, we started climbing. Approx 600 steps and we were at the top of the world. At the peak, everything looked so small. Clouds passing by us, touch us … what a experience it was.

We also went for Anna Prasadam and had lunch there. It was divine as these prasadam are always. We did spend some good 2 hours here and by 3.30 we were back on road.

Talakaveri

Stop 3 – Abbey Falls : This was our last stop for day 2. This is actually 7 kms from Madikeri. So we have to come back to Madikeri first. In total from Talakaveri to Abbey falls google showed 2.15 hrs, but we were able to make it in 2 hrs. We reached Abbey falls by 5.30 and we were right on time because the entrance to the falls closes by 6.00 PM.

Abbey Falls

It is a nice fall. We liked it a lot. Took some good snaps. Spent around one hour here and by 6.45 we headed back.

By 7 we reached “Big Cup” restaurant. Its around 3 kms from Madikeri town towards mysore on the main road. A very nice restaurant for burger, Pizzas etc. We had some nice dinner there. Kids enjoyed it any by 8.30 we called it a day.

It was a nice day 2 … day 3 is going to be long one. 3 more stops to cover and then travel back home.
