Kaiwara a small hamlet near namma Bengaluru! Many people don’t know that this place holds great importance in one of our greatest mythology – The Mahabharata.
But Kaiwara is famous for another reason as well. It is famous for Saint Narayanappa (1730-1840 AD). A famous Kannada poet who also wrote in Telgu.
Narayanappa wrote poems in praise of Amara Narayanaswamy, incarnation of lord Vishnu.
Route:
Take NH7 (new airport road) towards Devanhalli.
Once you reach Devanhalli, take SH96 for Vijayapura.
Keep moving on SH96. Cross Vijayapura, but keep on moving onto SH96.
After around 28 Kms on SH96 you will hit Hoskote-Chintamani Road.
Take left on this road and keep driving straight for 10KMS. You will reach Kaiwara.

Start early if possible by 7.00 AM atleast. You will reach a minimum 2 hrs and 30 Mins to reach and this time includes 30 mins for breakfast on the way. There are some nice options near Devanahalli where you can have your breakfast. Please note that you can also go via Hoskote and this will also take approximately same time. |

Narayanappa , the famous Kannada saint and poet lived at Kaiwara and hence this place is very special. Sri Yogi Narayana Mutt is the main shrine of Saint Kaiwara Tatayya. Narayanappa wrote poems in praise of Amara Narayanaswamy, incarnation of lord Vishnu. Hence just 200 meters from this temple on the main road you will find Sri Amaranarayana Swamy Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. So you can keep you car parked and walk down to the temple and pay your regards to Lord Vishnu. I would suggest to spend some more time at Sri Yogi Narayana Mutt is possible and know more about the great saint Shri Narayanappa ! |

Shri Bheemalingeshwara temple is just 500 meters from the mutt. The roads are a bit narrow and hence drive carefully. There is ample parking in front of the temple premises. |

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a very very old temple. It is said that Bhima established this temple while they were in this region at the time of thier agyatwasa. You will see a small hill top and that it called as Bheema-Bakasura Betta. It is said that this is the place where Bhima Killed the demon Bakasura. In the age of the Mahabharat, Kaivara was known as Ekachakrapuram After killing the demon, Bheema performed penance at the site of the temple by consecrating a Shiva linga at the spot. He then constructed a temple around this linga. |

This is a small hill and you have to climb around 500 to 600 steps. The legend is that this is the place where Bhima Killed the demon Bakasura . The view of the surroundings is fantastic. It also has a small temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundi and a natural spring known as Lakshman Tirtha. The you can visit Vaikunta Betta , a small hill where Kaiwara Tatayya meditated and attained enlightenment in a cave. So spend some good 2 hours exploring all these places. Park your car and walk a short distance along a stone-paved route to the gigantic stone hills of Kailasgiri, which include cave temples. You can easly spend 1 to 2 hours here, touring the subterranean temples. Enjoy the view of the landscape from the top. Inside the Cave temple, you may see Sri Vallaba Ganapati Swamy, Sri Chaturmukhalingeshwara Swmay, and the Goddess Sri Jagadambe. The view from top is amazing ! |
