Leepakshi – Just awesome!

Just one word describes this place – awesome! and there is a reason to be amazed. Leepakshi has three temples and they are a wonderful example of Vijayanagara style of architecture.

It is both a tourist place and a religious place as well. People also know this place as Veerbhadra temple. The architecture of this temple is incredible.

Leepakshi is around 130 Kms from Bangalore, but the route is very good. Road conditions are fantastic and hence it does not take a lot of time

Generally it takes around 2 hours to reach there , but if you stop for breakfast, you can add another 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 mins to the trip.

Remember , the parking is limited and hence reaching early helps!

Day-1/Step-2 10.30 AM to 4.00 PM Explore Leepakshi

So there are places which you should visit.

1) Monolithic Nandi Statue
2)Veerabhadra Temple
3)Jatayu Park

Veerabhadra Temple: This 16th-century temple, built in Vijayanagara style, is the main attraction. It's dedicated to Lord Veerabhadra and showcases intricate carvings and stunning mural paintings.
Hanging Pillar: A unique feature of the temple, one of the pillars appears to be suspended in mid-air, not touching the ground.
Monolithic Nandi (Bull): A massive statue of Nandi, Lord Shiva's mount, sculpted from a single granite stone.
Kalyana Mandapa: An unfinished marriage hall with exquisite sculptures and carvings.
Sita's Footprint: A footprint believed to be of Mata Sita, located within the temple complex.
Lepakshi Paintings: The temple walls are adorned with vibrant and detailed mural paintings depicting scenes from mythology and history.
Nagalinga: A monolithic sculpture of a seven-headed cobra sheltering a Shiva Linga.
Jatayu Park: A park featuring a large statue of Jatayu, the mythical bird from the Ramayana, located on a hillock.

All the above places except Nandi Statue and Jatayu park are with in Shri Verrabhadra temple complex.
The main temple complex, Nandi Statue and Jatayu park are with in 900 meters of each other.

Day-1/Step-3 4.00 PM to 7.00 PM Drive back home

A day trip to Leepakshi is well spent. You will need atleast 3 hours to drive back to Bangalore!
