Hullukudi Betta - (Explore Doddabalapura - Option 1) One day trip from Bangalore

Love trekking – Try Hullukudi Betta – Calm quite and serene!
Hullukudi Betta ie. Hullukudi Hills, a calm, quite and serene place near Bangalore on Doddabalapur-Dobbaspet road.
This place is gaining ground with armature trekkers as it offer a very good trekking opportunity.

But this hill is also famous for small, but very old cave temple dedicated to Sri Veerabhadra swamy. There is also a some remains of an old fort. Check out the blog for history behind this place - Hullukudi Betta

Day-1/Step-1 8.00 AM to 9.00 AM Start from home & Breakfast near Doddaballapura
Start early by 8.00 AM. The route via Yelahanka NES - > Doddaballapura is best and shortest. There are some good resturants for breakfast on Yelahanka Doddaballapura Road.
You will cross Rajankunte in 1 hr and have your breakfast at any one of the nice restruants before or after Rajankunte. You may not find good food options after that.
Spend some 30 mins for Breakfast and then head to Hullukiudi Betta!

Day-1/Step-2 9.00 AM to 10.00 AM Drive to Hullukudi Betta
In one hour you will reach at the base of Hullukudi Betta. You need to park you car at the base. After that you need to trek.

Day-1/Step-3 10.00 AM to 11.00 AM Trek to Hullukudi Betta top
Once you have parked your car, you need to trek for around 3 Kms. It will be around 1700 steps.
Please note that there are 2 ways to reach at the top. One is to take steps and other one is through a muddy and rocky trail.
Taking steps are easier and safe. It will be moderate trek and kids and elderly can also do it.
If you have elderly people then ascent/descent time may increase.
Please also remeber that during summers it becomes difficult to cimb becuase of heat. So prepare well. Wear good shoes and carry water along!
It is a nice trek however !

Day-1/Step-4 11.00 AM to 1.00 PM Explore Hullukudi Betta
The view from the top is amazing. Also the there is a small temple at the top and it is said that temple is thousands of year old.
There is some history around this temple
It is believed that Lord Shiva (lord veerbhadra) and Lord Narashimha had an argument on who will stay at this place.
Later Lord Shiva took this place and he has been worshiped as Lord Veerabhadra since then.
It is also believed that during February festive season a snake comes to this temple and sits around the legs of Lord Veerabhadra’s statue.

Day-1/Step-5 1.00 PM to 2.00 PM Return back to Parking
After spending some good 2 hours there you can start your descent to parking.
You can spend more time there if you wish. if you were able to pack some lunch, you can enjoy nice lunch sitting at the top. Please remeber there are no shops to buy any food there. Only some people can be seen selling water bottles and some local snacks!

Day-1/Step-6 2.00 PM to 3.00 PM Lunch on Yelahanka Doddaballapura Road
You can have nice lunch near Rajankunte. As I have mentioned before, there are some good food options on this road.
Day-1/Step-7 3.00 PM to 4.00 PM Drive back to home
After luch you can plan your evening. May be visit the mall in Yelahanka or nearby or enjoy some nice movie with family and friends !
It will be a weekend trip worth doing !
