Chandra Choodeswarar Temple Hosur is a very old and important temple of the region.
We have not been able to visit any place during last one month due to various reasons. We just wanted to go some where on this long weekend, but some how could not make a plan.
Only one day trip was possible and hence were looking for an option.
While going towards Hosur, we have seen a temple on the hill top many a time and hence always wanted to visit that.
We decided to take a trip to Hosur this time. Anyway its not very far from Bengaluru.
Actually just 30 mins from electronics city.
In a hurry, watch this video:
History of Chandra Choodeswarar Temple Hosur
There is a a bit of history around this beautiful temple. Built by Thirupuvanamalla Barvatharaja Anthiyazhvar who belonged to Hoysala Dynasty, this temple is around 700 years old.
The temple is dedicated to lord Shiva who is called Shri Choodeswarar and Goddess Parvati, also called as Goddess Maragadambal.
If you are travelling from Bangalore to Hosur you will find this temple on the right hand side on a hill top.
The main temple is quite big and impressive. There is a small water body near the temple (kalyani).
Another view from outside…
Why you should visit Chandra Choodeswarar Temple Hosur
It will be a quite a relaxing trip.
You will not need more than 3 to 4 hours to visit this place.
It just take 30 mins to 1 hour to reach this temple depending upon where you live in Bangalore.
How to reach Chandra Choodeswarar Temple
The road is our regular Hosur road which is NH and hence quite good.
Lot of food options on the way. You can go till top of the hill in your car and parking is available there.
Once done you can have nice lunch at A2B there.
It is very good and then do some shopping.
There are lot of good shops in Hosur who sell silk sarees and other silk clothing.
We found them reasonably priced compared to Bangalore. You can check those out!
So if you have half a day in hand, check this place out. I am sure you will like it.
